Jan. 11, 2024 | Laos Christian Loses Position on Village Council Siporn is a faithful Christian and a member of the village council in his community. In August, the president of the council confronted Siporn about his faith, promising that Siporn would succeed him as council president if Siporn would recant. Siporn answered, “I will not stop believing in my God, because I have found the truth and chosen the right path for my life.” The council then met without Siporn and voted to remove him from his position. “Being [on the council] or not, it does not matter to me,” he told a front-line worker. “I will thank God for everything.” Pray for Brother Siporn and others in Laos who lose jobs and reputations for the sake of knowing Christ and making him known. Jan. 11, 2024 | Nepal Hindu Mobs Vandalize Three Churches On Aug. 30, 2023, three churches in one district were attacked in the daytime by groups of 20-25 people each. One Christian leader reported that the groups pelted the buildings with stones and bricks, causing damage to windows, doors and gates. The groups chanted Hindu religious slogans during the attacks. Front-line workers believe these attacks could be retribution for earlier reports that a non-Christian tribal group had slaughtered and eaten cows, which Hindus hold as sacred animals. Sisters Beaten, Nearly Killed by Father

Renee (22) and Rebecca (19) are half-sisters. Their father has four wives and practices animistic sorcery. Years ago, Renee’s mother was unable to conceive, so she went to a Christian outreach hoping for a miracle. There she placed her faith in Christ and received prayer; later she became pregnant and gave birth to Renee. Renee’s father was not pleased when his wife took Renee to church. Renee’s half-sister, Rebecca, became a Christian while training at a hair salon with someone who sang worship songs. Rebecca’s father told her that if she wanted to continue living in his house, she would have to perform demonic rituals. Both Rebecca and Renee refused to perform the rituals, so he declared he would kill them both and sacrifice them to local spirits. He then beat them severely, but they escaped. They told a front-line worker that having hope in eternal life through Jesus was worth what they have suffered.

Brenda & Terry Brenda has served on Encompass’s Crisis Response team since 2015 and also serves with our Timothy Project. While her husband Terry was having an open heart surgery in December, he tragically suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He is very tired and struggling with pain management. Please pray for our Comforter and Healer to draw near to this faithful couple as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

God Provides Location for Ministry in Portugal As part of Sam and Tracey’s ministry in Portugal, they help facilitate community workshops for the marginalized. For years, they haven’t had a consistent space to do this, but recently the city hall granted them permission to use their building for the next three years! Join us in praising God for blessing their ministry with this space. May it be used as a place where many will come to encounter Him.

Team Internships Are you wanting to explore missions but don’t want to go alone? Encompass is sending a team of interns to Central Asia and a team of interns to Japan. Both trips will be four-week experiences where participants will receive intentional training and hands-on experience working with the culture.
